This species is characterized by its robust leaves, pubescent well developed stipules, and robust lax inflorescences with the flowers arranged in mostly in short cymes.
Bathysa australis
is similar to
Bathysa nicholsonii
, with glabrous stipules, reduced peduncles, and inflorescences sparsely branched.
Distribución :
Humid forest at 400-1000 m in southeastern Brazil; reported by Germano Filho (1998) from Distrito Federal, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul.
