Notes:
This species is characterized by its glabrescent habit, somewhat small shortly petiolate leaves, triangular rather well developed stipules, sessile flowers borne singly or in small subcapitate groups and enclosed by the terminal pair of leaves or foliaceous bracts, and subglobose to oblate fruits. Mueller (1881: 103) described the stipules as narrowly triangular and ca. 1 cm long. This species does not appear to be well known, and may deserve comparison with species of Rudgea or Faramea. Coussarea biflora is similar to Coussarea triflora and Coussarea lanceolata. Coussarea uniflora also appears similar and perhaps these should be compared.
