Annual or perennial prostrate or suberect herb. Stem quadrangular, with sharp, distinct angles, hispid. Leaves 6-8 whorled, 12-25 x 2-3 mm, lanceolate, apex cuspidate, apiculate, margin recurved. Inflorescence a terminal head, c. 1.5-2.5 cm in diameter, surrounded by small leaves. Flowers pink, c. 14 mm long, and c. 4 mm across. Calyx small, c. 1 mm long, tube ovate-oblong, minutely hispid, lobes obscure. Corolla infundibuliform; tube c. 13-14 mm long; lobes 5, lanceolate-oblong, c. 3 mm long, obtuse. Stamens 5, inserted in the naked corolla-throat, filaments very short, anthers c. 1.5 mm long, included, dorsifixed, style exserted, 20-21 mm long; stigma club-shaped, shortly and somewhat unequally cut at the top.
