Trees, 10 – 15 m tall, 8 – 12 m wide, spreading, sparse canopy from solitary, very short, crooked trunk. Bark smooth all over, shedding in large plates, white mottled with grey, rarely a small stocking of fibrous bark retained at the trunk base. Leaves alternate, petioles terete to slightly flattened, 10 – 20 mm long, lamina lanceolate, 8 – 15 x 1.2 – 2 cm. Inflorescence axillary, 5 – 10-flowered umbels on 7 – 12 mm long, angular peduncles. Flowers cream to white, on 2 – 6 mm long pedicels, 1.8 – 2 cm across. Buds ovoid to somewhat conical, (6 -) 7– 10 mm long with conical, 5 – 6 x 3 – 4 mm calyptras; hypanthium hemispherical or obconical, 3 – 4 mm long, as wide as calyptra. Fruits hemispherical to almost globose, 5 – 7 x (5-) 6 – 7 mm; disc broad, ascending; valves 3 or 4, exserted. Seeds brown-black.
