Type: Lectotype: Gilgit, Nittar (Nattar?) valley, 8000-9000 ft. 3.8.1892, Duthie (K).

Syntypes: A-7 Gilgit Expedition, Hatupur, 9000-10000 ft., 1885, Giles 220 (K); Acho, Hussora, 3.8.1847, Strachey & Winterbottom 911 (K); Kashmir, Kach, 5500 ft., April, Duthie s.n. (K).

Distribution: Distribution: Kashmir.
Comment/Acknowledgements: Komarov (l.c.) based this variety on the fruiting material. The correct identity of this taxon can only be determined when the flowering material is available. Presently it seems best to follow Komarov (l.c.).

Shrub, young shoots tomentose. Leaf pinnately compound, rachis becomes indurated spiny, 5-16 mm long; leaflets 4-6, sessile to subsessile, 5-12 mm long, 1.5-2.0 mm broad, narrowly oblanceolate, cuspidate, appressed hairy; stipules spinescent. Pedicel and peduncle c. 2.5-4 mm long, peduncle very short.
