Erect, annual herb, c. 30 cm tall. Cauline leave 7-10 x 5-8 mm, ovate, rarely broadly ovate, 4-5 lobed; lobes acuminate-aristulate, longer than broad. Floral leaves similar to cauline leaves, 8-10 x 6-9 mm; lobes divided nearly ½ to midrib. Raceme lax. Flower c. 10 mm long; pedicels c. 1 mm long. Calyx 4-7 mm long; lobes 3-4 x 0.5-1 mm, equal; tube 1-3 mm long. Corolla dorsally 6-10 mm long, externally pubescent on the upper lip and the tube; tube 3-6 mm long, upper lip 3-5 mm long, lower lip 4-6 mm long, middle lobe largest 2-4 x 1-3 mm, left lobe 1.5-3 x 1-3 mm, right lobe 2-3 x 0.75-2.5 mm, left and right lobes unequal. Lobes oblong, emarginated, erose-deeply notched. Two anthers with equal and two with unequal awns; hairs short equalling the longer awn. Capsule 3.5-6.5 x 1.5-3 mm, oblong, retuse-emarginate, ciliate at the upper end; cilia soft. Seeds 3-11 per capsule, oblong, acute.
