Erect, annual herb, 10-20 cm tall. Cauline leaves 6-11 x 3-7 mm, ovate, 4-6 lobed, with truncate base; lobes acuminate, longer than braod, upper antrorse, lower patent (6-8 x 3-4 mm in aestival and 8.5-11 x 4.5-7 mm in the autumnal form). Racemes slightly dense. Floral leaves similar to cauline leaves but ovate-broadly ovate and lobes sometimes medianly incurved, 7-11 x 5-8 mm (7-8 x 5.6 mm, ovate in aestival and 8.5-11 x 6.5-8 mm, broadly ovate in autumnal form). Flowers 7.5-12 mm long; pedicels c. 1 mm long. Calyx 5-7.5 mm long; lobes 2-4 x 0.5-0.75 mm, equal; tube 3-4.5 mm long. Corolla white with purple streaks, dorsally 11-12 mm long; tube 5-8 mm long, externally pubescent especially on the 3-4 mm long upper lip. Lower lip 3-6 mm long; lobes oblong-obovate, obcordate, erose-deeply notched, right lobe largest, 1.5-3.5 x 1.5-3 mm, left lobe 1.5-3 x 1-3 mm, middle lobe 2.5-3.5 x 1.75-2.5 mm. Two anthers with unequal and two with equal awns, densely hairy; hairs long, twice as long as the longer awn. Capsule 5-6 x 2.5-3.5 mm, (c. 5 x 2.5 mm in aestival and c. 6 x 3-3.5 mm in autumnal form), oblong, retuse, shorter than the calyx, ciliate at the upper part; cilia sitff. Seeds 14 per capsule, oblong.
