Notes:
This species has a somewhat slender habit, tomentulose to hirtellous pubescence that often dried whitened, elliptic leaves with attenuate bases, short cymose inflorescences that are usually borne below the leaves, rotate pale yellow corollas ca. 10 mm long, and subglobose red fruits. (The pubescence of many species of Hoffmannia characteristically dried brown or reddish brown.) Hoffmannia costaricensis is similar to Hoffmannia viridis.
