Comment/Acknowledgements:

A plant of higher altitude, grows between 3000–3500 m near water canals, open places and gentle slopes.

Caespitose, perennial herb, 20–60 cm tall. Stem erect or ascending, unbranched or branched from the upper half, purple – green, hirsute – strigillose or somewhat villous. Leaves hirsute to somewhat villous or subglabrous, ciliate at the margins. Basal leaves in somewhat rosette, withering at anthesis. Lower leaves oblanceolate, 4–7 cm long (including 3–4 cm long, narrowly winged petiole), 0.4–0.7 cm wide, entire or with 1–2 small teeth on either side, cauline leaves almost similar to lower leaves, 3–5 cm long (including 1–1.5 cm long petiole), 0.3–0.6 cm wide, oblanceolate – oblong, obtuse – acute, entire – ciliate, upper ones sessile, oblong – somewhat lanceolate, 2 – 4 cm long, 0.2–0.4 cm wide, subclasping, uppermost leaves becoming gradually smaller, ca 0.5 cm long, linear, acute. Capitula many, in corymbiform synflorescence, 1.5–2 cm across. Peduncle flexous, slender, purplish. Involucre 1–1.5 cm in diameter, campanulate, hirsute–strigillose or somewhat villous, eglandular. Phyllaries 3–seriate, lanceolate–linear, acute – acuminate, outer 3–4 mm long, 1.2–1.5 mm wide, middle ones 5–6 mm long, 1–1.3 mm wide; innermost ca 7 mm long, 0.8–1 mm wide, membranous, acuminate. Ray florets purple–pink, ligule 7–8 mm long, linear–oblanceolate, convoluted when dry. Female eligulate florets absent. Disc florets yellow, 4–5 mm long, tube 1.5–2 mm long, limb 2.5–3 mm long including ca 0.5 mm long, purplish–brownish, glabrous lobes. Cypselas 2–2.5 mm long, brown, oblong, compressed, sericeous, hilum basal. Outer bristles of pappus ca 0.5 mm long, inner ones 4.5–5 mm long, brownish–yellow.
