Nomenclature Reason: nom. superfl., because definitely includes the type of Pleurothallis lanceana Lodd. (1832; by citation of the name itself and its holotype), the epithet of which ought to have been adopted in Acianthera according to the authors' own taxonomy; nonethelesss, Acianthera ciliata (Knowles & Westc.) F. Barros & L. R. S. Guim. is not illegitimate (see ICBN Art. 52.3), and could become the correct name if P. lanceana were treated as a different species
