Annual or perennial herbs, sometimes shrubs or small trees. Leaves simple, alternate or fasciculate, petiolate or sessile, linear to obovate, toothed or entire, sometimes with sessile glandular trichomes on abaxial surface. Capitula radiate, disciform or discoid, sessile or subsessile, terminal, rarely axillary or congested in glomerules–like cymes or solitary. Phyllaries 1–4–seriate, subequal, rarely absent. Receptacle of various shapes, paleate or epaleate. Ray florets female in several series, sometimes absent, ligule extremely small, appearing tubular. Disc florets bisexual or functionally male, corolla 4–5–lobed, of various colours, mostly white, yellow, purplish, campanulate, glabrous or pubescent with twin glandular trichomes. Stamens 4–5, anthers usually ecalcarate, shortly caudate or ecaudate, appedages shallowly constricted above the thecae, sometimes absent or very minute. Cypselas black or brown, obcompressed to subterete, deeply ridged or with thickened striations or ribs, glabrous or with ciliate lateral ridges and glandular trichomes, sometimes with apically recurved, twin trichomes forming a short crown, or with few, free, lacerate scales or absent.

A small tribe with 6 genera and 59 species, distribudted from West Africa to eastward South Eastern Asia and Indonesia through India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Australia and Southern South America. Represented in Pakistan by a single genus Centipeda Lour. with the following species.
