Notas : This species is characterized by its rather small stiff-textured leaves, rounded well developed stipules, and shortly branched spiciform to pyramidal inflorescences with the flowers in a few to several small heads. This species has been overlooked by many recent taxonomists, in part because it was described in Mapouria even though does not have the morphological features that generally characterized that genus. It has been infrequently collected in general, but has been collected a number of times recently near Manaus (Oct. 2014, INPA!).
Distribución : Humid scrub vegetation at 100-150 m, apparently on poor soils and/or white sands, from northern Amazonian Brazil and adjacent southern Colombia to the Manaus region.
