Notas : This species is characterized by its small rounded stipules, rather robust, leaves, distinctive spiciform inflorescences with the flowers in sessile glomerules borne along the primary axis, corollas that are externally granular puberulous and horned on the lobes, rather large fruits that dry orange but are reported to be blue to purple or black at maturity, and pyrenes with papery walls. This species was separated for a long time in its own genus. A description and photos of living plants were presented by Lachenaud & Delprete (2022: 280-282).
Distribución :

Wet forest vegetation at 100-200 m in western Amazonia, in southern Colombia, northeastern Peru, and to eastern Brazil (Amapá, Hamada et al. 139, INPA) and French Guiana.
