Notes:
This species is characterized by its usually rather well developed stipules (among the species that were included in Trigonopyren), its elliptic leaves that are abaxially generally plane with a distinctive shiny surface, and its pedunculate, corymbiform, lax, hirtellous inflorescences. The combination of hirtellous inflorescence axes and glabrous vegetative structures is distinctive among the species that were included in Trigonopyren, however specimens from Ranomafana with glabrous inflorescences probably also belong to this species. On the specimens seen the inflorescences are usually deflexed via a bend at the base of the peduncle.
