Notes:
This species is characterized by its bilobed persistent stipules; medium-sized, thin-textured leaves; densely puberulous pubescence on the stems and leaves; and terminal, rather lax, cymose inflorescences with small subsessile flowers and the axes generally elongating as the fruits develop. It is similar to Psychotria hanta, which has been collected more often. Several specimens document this species from calcareous plateaus.
