Notas : This species is characterized by its thin-textured leaves with prolonged acuminate apices, pyramidal to somewhat rounded inflorescences with reduced bracts, yellow to white corolla that is swollen and bent at the base, and didymous fruits. It has long been treated in Psychotria but was transferred to Palicourea by Taylor (2014), who also significantly narrowed the circumscription of this species and noted some regional patterns of morphological variation.
Distribución : Wet forest vegetation at 0-1500 m, Mexico and Cuba through Central American to Pacific coastal Colombia, along the Caribean coast of Colombia and Venezuela, and south to the Guianas, western Brazil and central Peru.
