Chionoloma schlimii (Pseudosymblepharis) is characterized by the linear to linear–lanceolate leaves with acute apices, cross–section at midleaf circular, and basal marginal cells running up the margin forming a weak V–shaped pattern of hyaline and smooth cells which reach 1/4 the leaf length. As noted by Alonso et al. 2014, Chionoloma angustata (previously as P. schimperiana) is similar to C. schlimii but differs by the acuminate apices and clasping leaf base. Chionoloma tenuirostre (previously as Trichostomum tenuirostre) is similar to C. schlimii in leaf shape, but differs by basal cells that do not extend up along the margin forming a V-shaped pattern, and larger dorsal stereid band than the ventral band.
