Notes: This species is characterized by its rather small oblanceolate leaves and congested short-shoots or subsessile inflorescences in both axils at a node. It also has hirsute pubescence, calyptrate stipules and bracts, and 4-merous flowers with rather well developed calyx limbs. The small leaves on the short-shoots give the stems an appearance of anisophylly, although the leaves borne along the main stem are all similarly developed.
Distribution: Wet forest at 200-800 m in the western Amazon basin in southern Peru (Puno) and central Bolivia (Cochabamba).
