Notes:
This species is characterized by its rather dense hirtellous or pilosulous pubescence, flowers borne in a single pedunculate subcapitate head, well developed subtruncate to shallowly lobed calyx limbs, generally 5-merous flowers, corollas with tubes 15-25 mm long, and capsules ca. 34 x 5 mm. Joosia capitata is distinctive but similar in general to Joosia pulcherrima,, which has appressed pubescence, at least shortly branched inflorescences, and 4-merous flowers. Joosia capitata is also similar to Joosia aequatoria, which has sparse appressed pubescence, deeply lobed calyx limbs, and capsules 15-28 mm long.
