Notes: This species is characterized by its rather robust leaves, robust stipules with well developed lobes, rather short pyramidal inflorescences, well developed calyx limbs, stout, funnelform, fleshy yellow corollas with the lobes colored with purple, and rather large fruits.
Distribution: Premontane wet forest at 850-1200 m in southern Ecuador and northern to central Peru, apparently often if not generally on quartzite substrates.
