Nomenclature Reason: nom. superfl.; proposed as a replacement name for Ilex minor Casp., the epithet of which, according to Conwentz, had already been used in Sambucus for a recent species; however, the epithet "minor" had in fact never been used in Sambucus, as first suggested by Cockerell (1910; Torreya 10: 126) and confirmed recently (Jul 2017) by searches in IPNI and TROPICOS
