Notes :
This species is not well documented, and it may have a limited overall range and may also be rare within this range. It differs from other species of this genus in its tubular, red to purple flowers, which may attract hummingbirds.
Distribution :
Dry vegetation in inter-Andean valleys at 2000--2800 m in northearn Peru (Ancuash, La Libertad).
