Comment/Acknowledgements :

A rare species, restricted to Kurram Valley, a valley occurring on both sides of Pakistan and Afghanistan, can be easily distinguished by the presence of distinctly fringed, phyllaries with fine ciliate margins and ± coriaceous pale green leaves.

Erect or decumbent, perennial herb with woody rootstock, upto 30 cm tall. Stem with many slender, densely leafy branches, covered with white eglandular hairs. Basal leaves withering at flowering, cauline leaves ± coriaceous, 2–3 (–4.5) cm long,  0.4–0.8 (–1.2) cm wide, pale greyish – green, subsessile – somewhat attenuate into a 2–3 mm long petiole, ovate–lanceolate, subcoriaceous, ± glabrous above, somewhat pubescent below, more on the midrib and the margins, entire or with sharp, pointed, ca 5 mm long, 2–3 distinct teeth on either side, acute, uppermost leaves similar but smaller. Capitula 1–5, arranged in terminal corymbs, 6–7 mm across. Involucre 7 – 8 mm long, imbricate, coriaceous. Phyllaries 4–seriate, straw coloured with narrow purplish rim, margins finely fringed, ciliate, outer phyllaries ca 3 mm long,  ca 2 mm wide, ovate, acute,  middle ones ca 5 mm long, ca 1.5 mm wide, ovate–lanceolate, innermost 6–7 mm long,  ca 2 mm wide, lanceolate to lanceolate – ovate. Ray florets 8–10, ligules white, 7–8 mm long, 2.5–3 mm wide. Disc florets yellow, 5–5.6 mm long. Cypselas ca 3 mm long, ribbed, covered with white silky hairs. Pappus simple, white, ca 5 mm long.
