Erect, perennial herbs, somewhat woody at base. Stems several, 15–45 cm tall, sparsely and minutely appressed pubescent and glandular especially near the inflorescence. Leaves sparsely,  appressedly, pilose, glandular on either side, older becoming eglandular, basal leaves absent at flowering stage, cauline leaves oblanceolate or spathulate, upper ones broadly linear, often somewhat appressed to the stems, 1.3 – 3.5 cm long, (0.5–) 0.8–1 cm wide, sessile, attenuate at the base, obtuse and mucronate at the apex, margins entire. Capitula discoid, 3–10, borne on upto 6 cm long peduncles, in loose racemes or corymbs, (0.9–) 1.3–1.5 cm across. Phyllaries 1–2 seriate, lanceolate, 6–7 mm long, 1–1.7 mm wide, glandular, pilose, green or purplish (in the dried state), margins scarious. Ray florets absent. Disc florets yellow, 5.5–6 mm long, tube ca 1.5 mm long, limb unequally 5–lobed, larger lobe ca 2 mm long, remaining 4 lobes  1–1.2 mm long. Style appendages 0.4 – 0.5 mm long, lanceolate. Cypselas pale brown, obovate, 3–3.5 mm long,  ca 1.4 mm wide, somewhat compressed, sericious, hairs brown, similar to pappus, sparsely glandular above, ribbed. Pappus simple, fawn or reddish brown, bristles ca 30, 4–4.5 mm long.
