Perfil de la Especie/Species Profile     (Last Modified On 5/13/2014)
Estado Actual/Current Status: Species Of Concern
SOC Notas de Estado/SOC Status Notes: Material from the site was originally identified as D. pendula Luteyn & Wilbur s. lat., but the similarity with the poorly known D. panamensis and the possibility that the plant may be a hybrid were noted. At the 2012 Red list workshop it was concluded that the Cobre Mine material should not be included in D. pendula. More material is required to gain a better understanding of the situation, to resolve the status of the 2 species., Additional material conforms more closely to D. panamensis, and that species is now considered to be the taxon at the mining site.

Notas de la Lista Roja/Red List Notes: Didonica pendula Luteyn & Wilbur has been assessed as Endangered. Upon extirpation of the subpopulation/location on the mining footprint, the species would be immediately reassessed as EN, and therefore should be considered a VU+ SoC. There is still some uncertainty about the taxonomic status of the species in relation to D. pendula and the identification of some specimens.
