Perennial. Stem glabrous. Leaf palmately compound; leaflets 9-17, lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous above, pubescent below; petiole at least twice the length of leaflets; stipules adnate, pubescent. Inflorescence very long, many flowered. Calyx lips entire or minutely toothed. Corolla about 3 times as long as the calyx, blue, violet, rose or white. Fruit compressed, black at maturity, densely pubescent, hairs appressed.
