Large climbing shrub, stem prickly and pubescent when young, prominently fluted and angled when old. Prickles up to 2.5 mm long. Rachis c. 12.5-20 cm long, with obliquely conical gland near the base of the petiole and convex glands between the upper pair or pairs of pinnae; glands hirsute. Stipules caducous, not spinescent. Pinnae 7-19 pairs, 5-10 cm long. Leaflets 6-42 pairs, 4-8 mm long, 2-3 mm broad, ciliate, pubescent on both sides, leaflets touch each other. Inflore¬scence large terminal panicle, the lower branches of which are axillary, heads pedunculate, peduncle 1-2 cm long, 1-5 times branched, head c. 30 flowered, bract c. 1.5 mm long, linear, spathulate, villous. Calyx 2 mm long, pubescent. Corolla c.3 mm long, slightly pubescent. Ovary villous, stipitate, stipe c.1 mm long. Pod 10-15 cm long, c.2-3 mm broad, velvety brown when young, glabrous when mature, flat, reddish brown, sutures thickened.
