Stem erect, 30-90 cm long, glabrescent, diffusely branched. Stipules 4-5 mm long; scarious. Leaves uni or trifoliolate; petiole 3-5 mm long; petiolule c. 1 mm long, leaflets 1.1-5.0 cm long, 2-7 mm broad, lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, acute, middle one always longer than the lateral leaflets. Raceme 6-20-flowered, up to 20 cm long; flowers in distant pairs. Bracts c. 5 mm long, scarious, acute. Pedicel 1.5-2.5 mm long. Calyx c. 3 mm long, deeply divided, teeth lanceolate, acute. Fruit 3-5-seeded, constricted between seeds; each 1 seeded part longer than broad, roughly tetragonal, strongly reticulately veined and minutely hairy.
