Synonym Hydrocotyle multiflora R. & P. Fl. Per. 3:24. 1802. Hydrocotyle yucatanensis Millsp. Field Mus. Publ. Bot. 2:81. 1900.
Description Stems slender; leaves 1-12 cm. in diameter, shallowly 12-19-lobed, the lobes crenate, glabrous, the petiole 2-38 cm. long, glabrous; peduncles glabrous, longer than the leaves; rays glabrous, 2-20 mm. long; fruit ellipsoid, 1-2 mm. long, 2-4 mm. broad, the ribs acute.
Specimen CANAL ZONE: Chagres, Fendler I32. COLON: vicinity of Camp Pina, 25 m., Allen 3593.
Distribution Although originally known from Montevideo and Buenos Aires, this is now reported widely from the warmer parts of the New World.
Note Its proliferous inflorescence in company with peltate leaves is quite distinctive.
