Herb with a slender creeping rhizome. Stems few, erect, 15-50 cm, obtusely quadrangular, usually not branched, with short eglandular crispedretrorse hairs. Leaves few, 3.5-5.5 x 1.5-4 cm, regularly ovate or oblong-ovate, subcordate to rounded-truncate, acute, finely crenate-serrate, with a very short eglandular indumentum, finely gland-dotted below or not; petiole 1-2.5 cm. Cymes pedunculate in axils of upper leaves, axillary and terminal; peduncles 5-20 mm; flowers few to several, secund or more or less so; bracts linear, longer than pedicels. Calyx 4-5 mm long, bilabiate, pale greenish-white, campanulate, dearly nerved, usually with capitate glandular and eglandular spreading hairs sometimes eglandular; upper lip 3-dentate with middle tooth ovate acuminate dearly larger than laterals; lower lip with 2 narrow lanceolate upcurved teeth; tube with long vinous hairs at throat. Corolla white, greenish white, or cream, 10-13 mm, finely glandular pilose; middle lobe of lip spreading-deflexed. Nutlets c. 1.5 x 1.1 mm, with somewhat raised reticulations.
