Authors: Published In: Proceedings of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences 8: 369. 1872. (Proc. Amer. Acad. Arts) Name publication detailView in Biodiversity Heritage Library
Annotation: as "Greggii". This name has been regarded as a replacement name for "Salvia microphylla Torr.", described in Rep. U.S. Mex. Bound. 2(1): 131. 1859, but Torrey did not intend to publish a new name there, he explicitly cited that as "Salvia microphylla H.B.K.". Thus, Gray's reference was to Salvia microphylla sensu Torrey in in that publication, to separate it as a new species.
