Description
|
Trees or shrubs, to 4 m, ? glabrous. Leaves elliptic, acuminate, obtuse basal- ly, to 14 cm long and 6 cm wide, glabrous, membranaceous; petioles 3-7 mm long, weakly perfoliate. Inflorescences cymose, axillary, 1-4 flowered. Flowers with the pedicels ca. 4-5 mm long; bracteole 1, deltoid, attached ca. midway on the pedicel; calyx-lobes unequal, oblong, ca. 6-9 mm long, glabrous; corolla infundibuliform, pale yellow to white, the tube proper 10-12 mm long, the throat 15-20 mm long, the lobes obliquely obovate, ca. 12-15 mm long; stamens at- tached at the top of the corolla tube, the anthers ca. 3 mm long; nectaries some- what fleshy, the stigma umbraculiform-pentagonal. Follicles slender, strongly di- vergent, both ends acuminate, ca. 3-5 cm long; seeds compressed, ovate, ca. 7-9 mm long, the testa rugose.
