Veratrum officinale Schldl. et Cham., Linnaea 6: 45 (1831). Isotipo: México, Schiede y Deppe s.n. (BM!).

Asagraea officinalis (Schldl. et Cham.) Lindley.

Bulbo 2.5-4 cm de ancho, ovoide a cilíndrico; escamas de la túnica separándose en fibras cerdáceas. Hojas 30-100 x 0.3-1.8 cm, 10-30-nervias. Escapo 30-120 x 0.3-1.3 cm. Espiga 10-50 x 1-2 cm. Tépalos 3-4 mm, ligulados, lanceolados, verde-blanquecinos, con una cavidad nectarífera conspicua en la base, los márgenes enteros. Espiga fructífera 2 cm de diámetro. Cápsulas 10-13 x 4-5 mm, agrupadas al principio, después algo separadas. Potreros montanos, orillas de bosques.
