Overlooking the existence of Marggraf's illustration, Rankin & Greuter designate a neotype (having dismissed Pfeifer's statement as a neotypification because he did not distinguish between the two specimens on the sheet). However, their choice is inadmissable. -See Jarvis, The Linnaean Plant Name Typification Project.

Neotype designated by:
Rankin Rodríguez, R. & W.R. Greuter. 1999. Charles Plumier's drawings of American plants and the nomenclature of early Caribbean Aristolochia species (Aristolochiaceae). Taxon 48(4): 686-687.

LT:
LT designated (as type) by Pfeiffer, Ann. Missouri Bot. Gard. 53: 144 (1966) and González, Fl. Colombia 12: 127 (1990). However, this choice is ineligible because the specimen is post-1753 and is a mixed collection. See Jarvis, The Linnaean Plant Name Typification Project.
