Evergreen, perennial climber. Stems elongated, angular, often thickened. Leaves 3-9 x l .5-6 cm., persistent, petiolate, somewhat leathery, ovate, cordate at base with rounded auricles and more or less acute apex, almost entire, glabrous, glossy, palmately-reticulately veined. Pedicels distinctly longer than petioles, somewhat puberulent. Flowers 2-3.5 cm., solitary. Perianth yellow, striped with purple; limb brownish-purple, minutely puberulent; utricle subglobular; tube more or less curved, longer than limb. Capsule 2-3 cm., oblong, pendulous. Fl. March-July.
