Herb. Van Royen - 913.62-84 - L - (BC:L0052692).
(L/BC:L0052692)
From the Linnaean Typification Project: "Hitchcock (in Bot. Gaz. 38: 141. 1904) noted that Linnaeus had confused two species, A. stolonifera L. and A. alba L. Hitchcock (in U.S.D.A. Bur. Pl. Ind. Bull. 68: 25. 1905) considered what is evidently 84.23 (LINN) as the type, but this is a collection from Hudson which was received by Linnaeus long after 1753. Widén (in Bot. Not. 120: 508. 1967) regarded A. alba as a nomen ambiguum, but subsequently resolved the problem by typifying the name using van Royen material, allowing it to fall into the synonymy of Poa nemoralis L."
