Annotation: Koeleria cristata Pers. was historically thought to be based on Aira cristata L., often erroneously cited as K. cristata (L.) Pers. However, that is incorrect as that is based on Festuca cristata L. Persoon referred older species names of Lamarck to varieties in his K. cristata Pers., and he should have adopted Poa pyramidata Lam. as the basis. This name is not the same as Rostraria cristata (L.) Trin. based on Festuca cristata L.
