Annotation: Some taxonomists think this name is superfluous for Arundo halleri Willd., which is actually Achnatherum calamagrostis (L.) P. Beauv., based on Agrostis calamagrostis L. Other taxonomists consider this names to be effectively new here. And it thus predates Arundo stricta Timm. (1795). The South American plant sometimes is treated as a separate species based on Calamagrostis pooides Steud. as Deyeuxia pooides. The specimen Ehrhart cited indicates he had Calamagrostis in mind, not the very different Achnatherum
