Panicum oaxacense Steudel, Syn. Pl. Glumac. 1: 73 (1853). Holotipo: México, Lenormand s.n. (P!).

Tallos hasta 2 m, rastreros en la base y enraizando en los nudos, sólidos. Vainas glabras, raramente puberulentas; lígula 0.5-5(-6) mm, pilosa en el envés, ciliada o lacerada; láminas (13-)17-29 x 1.2-2.4 cm, linear-lanceoladas, escábridas. Panícula 16-31 cm, obovoide, exerta; ramas marcadamente divergentes, muy ramificadas, desnudas en sus 1/2-2/3 inferiores; pedicelos adpresos a divergentes. Espiguillas 3.8-4.2 mm, globoso-obovoides, numerosas; gluma inferior 1.6-2.3 mm, 4-6-nervia; gluma superior 7-11-nervia; flósculo inferior generalmente estaminado; lema inferior 9-13-nervia; pálea inferior tan larga como el flósculo superior; flósculo superior 3.2-3.6 x 1.9-2.3 mm. 2n=36. Linderos de bosques, áreas abiertas y perturbadas, senderos. Ch, B-P. 0-1600 m. (C. México a Perú, Antillas.)
