Annotation: Muhlenberg provided no description, but the name is validated by citation an earlier description of Poa amabilis given by Walter (1788). The latter name is considered a misaplication, and not a new taxon.

Note: Hitchcock indicated the holotype was at PH, Elliott # 361, US fragment ex PH, but this is not original material of ~Poa amabilis~ sensu Walter, non. L. No original material of ~Poa amabilis~ sensu Walter could be found (fide, Ward 2007a, 2017)
