Although Pursh cited "
Poa amabilis Walter" as a synonym, Walter's description was a misapplication of
Poa amabilis L., and not intended as a new taxon name, and is thus invalid.
Pursh, unlike Muhlenberg (Sep 1813), provided a diagnosis, and is thus
Poa spectabilis Pursh is a legitimate name in its own right, that only needed typification different from that of Muhlenberg's
Poa refracta, to fix its application.
