Note: "North Branch of the Columbia and Okanagan" this is the only specimen of the Wilkes expedition listed by Thurber here. He also mentioned other material gathered by in California and Nevada by Bloomer, Bolander, Watson, and in Colorado by Newberry. but did not give collection numbers for those. It is clear, however, that he explicitly included S. occidentalis Thurb. ex Watson in his new S. occidentalis.
