Alternate Note:
Initially reported as in introduced in Canada, Manitoba, in a railway yard near Brandon (Stevenson, 1965, Scoggan, 1978), as Eremopoa persica. The vouchers (from 1955 and 1959) were redetermined as Eremopoa altaica (= Poa diaphora). The latter taxon has not been found subsequently.
The plant collected by Stevenson in 1955, and illustrated in FNA (2007, 24: 619) corresponds to Poa diaphora subsp. diaphora s.l., more precisely to the Poa/Eremopoa songarica form, which has shorter lemmas, with paleas subequaling the lemmas, and more sparsely flowered inflorescences than the typical element.
