Description Slender herbaceous vines; stems glabrous or puberulent in the younger por- tion. Leaves glabrous but sparsely pubescent near the attachment of the petioles, ovate, basally cordate, apically acuminate, 1.6-2.5 cm long with a cluster of dactyliform glands at the base, 4.5-6 cm long and 2.8-3.8 cm wide; petioles gla- brous. Inflorescence racemose, the rachis and pedicels fine puberulent; pedicels 7.1-7.6 mm long. Flowers with the calyx lobed to the base, the lobes 1.8-2.5 mm long and 1.4-1.6 mm wide, ovate, puberulent outside; corolla greenish-white, rotate, the lobes reflexed at anthesis, lanceolate, 6.4-6.9 mm long and 1.4-1.5 mm wide, glabrous inside and out; corona segments rhombic with a ? ligulate apical portion, nearly twice as long as the gynostegium, 3.8-3.9 mm long and 1.8-1.9 mm wide, the apices arching over the gynostegium; gynostegium short, broad, truncate-conical, 1.8-1.9 mm high. Follicles (from Colombian material) elongate-ovoid, smooth, glabrous, 5 cm long when immature and ca. 2 cm wide.

Distribution Known only from western Colombia and Panama
Note this lowland taxon is one of a group recognized by some workers as the genus Roulinia. The group is closely allied to Metalepis.
