Biennial or short–lived perennials, sometimes annual, caespitose herbs with fibrous roots. Stem 2–3 (–6) cm tall, erect–ascending, almost glabrous, branches solitary or several, sparsely hirsute, particularly at the upper half, eglandular. Basal leaves in rossette, persistant, pale – yellowish green, attenuate into a indistinct petiole, mostly linear – subspathulate or oblanceolate, 1–2 (–5) cm long, 0.5 –1 (–2) mm wide, entire, margins ciliate, acute, thick, without distinct veins; cauline leaves almost equalling to lower leaves, sometimes longer, few, linear lanceolate – lanceolate, acute, entire, indistinctly petiolate, uppermost gradually smaller, 0.5 – 7 mm long, 0.5 – 3 mm wide, sessile, linear, acute, entire, ciliate – hirsute, somewhat semi–amplexicaul. Capitula 1.5 – 2 cm across, solitary or 2 – 4 in lax racemose – paniculate synflorescence. Involucre hemispheric, 0.5 – 1.2 cm in diameter, pale yellowish green, hirsute – strigose. Phyllaries 3 – seriate, linear – lanceolate, acute – acuminate, outer and middle phyllaries 4 – 6 mm long, 0.5 – 1.5 mm wide, innermost 7 – 8 (–9) mm long, 0.3 – 0.5 mm wide, apically purplish, membranous. Ray florets lilac or pink – white, 5 – 7 mm long. Female eligulate florets absent. Disc florets yellow, 4 – 4.5 mm long, tube ca 2 mm long, limb 2 – 2.5 mm long including ca 0.2 mm long lobes. Cypselas 1.5 – 2 mm long, straw colored, narrowly oblong – oblanceolate, compressed, 2–ribbed, sericeous. Outer bristles of pappus ca 0.5 mm long, inner ones 3 – 4 (–5) mm long, dirty white.
