Erect or subdecumbent, annual, glabrous or sparsely hairy, 10-25 cm tall herb with slender stem usually much branched from the base. Leaves sessile, lower ones petiolate, pinnatifid to pinnatisect with 6-8, linear lobes, 1.5-4 x 0.5-1.5 cm, glabrous, sometimes sparsely hairy, lobes entire to 1-2-lobed; upper ones auricled and amplexicaul, linear, entire to pinnatifid. Capitula heterogamous, radiate, usually few in terminal, lax corymbs, 0.6-1 cm across. Peduncles 1-3 cm long sparsely hairy or glabrous with a few subulate bracteoles. Involucre narrowly campanulate, 4-5 x 2-4 mm; phyllaries 15-20, linear, 4-5 x 0.5 mm, glabrous or sparsely hairy; outer phyllaries 8-10, blackish at the apex, linear. Ray-florets yellow, 8-12, c. 3.5-11 x 2-3 mm, elliptic-oblong, revolute, 4-veined, 3-denticulate at the apex. Disc-florets many, very slender, yellow, 7-8 mm long. Anthers obtusely auriculate at the base. Style minutely lobed. Cypsela cylindrical, ribbed, scabrous, c. 3 mm long. Pappus white, 4-5 mm long.
