Annotation:
Published as the name of a new species, not a new combination based on Chrysogonum peruvianum L. 1753; see Jarvis, Order out of Chaos: 932. 2007. [re above entry: Jeffrey (in Jarvis & al. in Regnum Veg. 127: 100. 1993, in pre-type-cons. days) followed by Jarvis (Order out of Chaos: 932. 2007) gave Zinnia peruviana as published as the name of a new species, not a new combination based on Chrysogonum peruvianum L. 1753. This 'untenable' interpretation was reworked into a type cons. prop. of Chrysogonum peruvianum L. (a.k.a. combination Zinnia peruviana (L.) L.) in the nearly simultaneous Pruski (Taxon 56: 603-605. 2007, cons. prop. #1774); subsequently (1) voted (18:0) as recommended (Brummitt, Taxon 58: 286. 2009, which gave Chrysogonum peruvianum L as 'the basionym of Zinnia peruviana which is the type of the well known name Zinnia'); (2) agreed upon (21:1) by General Committee (Barrie, Taxon 60: 1212. 2011); and finally passed in IBC mail vote (21: 1; see McNeill et al. (Taxon 60: 1510. 2011). jp 26 Aug 2013)]
