HT:
Humboldt & Bonpland 3001; Jun 1802; Ecuador: Pichincha: 2450 m
[the acronym "P-HBK" was used in Brittonia 50: 473-482. 1998, Novon 6: 96-102, 1996, Phytoneuron 2016-50: 1-41. 2016 for the Paris holotypes in Herb. Humb. & Bonpl. These holotypes were largely microfiched by IDC, and bear Kunth's hand. The acronym "P-Bonpl." in the strict sense refers to the Paris general herbarium material from Herb. Bonpland, i.e., the personal materials (often multiple sheets) that were with Bonpland when he lived in Argentina and which were incorporated into P post-Nov.Gen.Sp. The P-Bonpl. s.str. materials were seemingly not seen or at least not seen consistently nor studied consistently by Kunth, and as such typically are treated as isotypes not bearing Kunth's hand. However, Index Herbariorum loosely applies "P-Bonpl" to both P-HBK and P-Bonpl. s.str., but perhaps technically excluding the Humboldt & Bonpland materials from other routes e.g., that were in the private Sprengel herbarium or the Compositae in the private Sch. Bipontinus herbarium that are in P-CO (Cosson). The unambiguous P-HBK seems ok to reference the Kunth-annotated sheets (basically most of the holotypes) as seen in IDC microfiche. "Missing" holotypes are often those materials illustrated in Pl.Aeq. or Nov.Gen.Sp., but which seem never re-incorporated back into P-HBK. J Pruski, 2017]
