Type-Protologue
Locality: An alpine species growing with Aster andinus Nutt. and Aster glacialis Nutt., but at lower elevation. Hab. on the highest summits of the Rocky Mountains, near the line of perpetual snow, in 42º. Near the summit of Thornberg's Ridge. Flowering in August.
