Note: Arkansas referred to the Arkansas Territory, 1819-1836, with statehood in Jun. 1836. Its western extent segregated as Oklahoma in 1824 (western portion), 1828 (eastern border). Nuttall's 1834 protologue referred to "T. Nuttall and Dr. [Zina] Pitcher." J. A. Steyermark, Mar. 33, noted the NY and PH sheets of Pitcher s.n. as isotypes, although M. A. Wetter annotated the PH sheet as a syntype, Apr. 1983. !VCH 5/11
